Mr. Werner Bührer established the firm of Bührer & Co. in 1968 at Thalwil on the shores of Lake Zurich. The company soon became well-known far beyond the borders of Switzerland, thanks in particular to its "Curved Belt Conveyor with Cylindrical End Rollers" component.

With the help of two employees, a start was made on manufacturing conveyor components under the very simplest conditions - in fact, in a garage. However, success was not long in coming and it became necessary to look for larger premises. Ideal conditions were found in a former textile factory at Wädenswil (on Lake Zurich). At the same time, the firm was converted into a stock corporation and it was given the new name of TRANSVER Bührer AG. In German trans-ver refers to:

- transportieren (transport)

- verpacken  (packaging)

In the years which followed, the SIG Packaging Machinery Factory (as it was then known) of Beringen invested a great deal of know-how in conveying components for unpackaged products such as chocolates and biscuits in particular. Entire lines, mostly in conjunction with packaging machines, were installed throughout the world. These low-maintenance systems with guaranteed operating reliability met with a massive response across the globe.

In March 1978, 100% of the company was taken over by SIG, Schweizerische Industrie-Gesellschaft [Swiss Industry Company]. The firm's name was now shortened to TRANSVER AG.

Due to the growing order volumes, the existing buildings became too confined in every respect. In November 1979 the company moved to larger industrial site, located in Altendorf, on the upper shores of Lake Zurich.

Since July 2004 Transver AG is part of the packaging technology division of the Bosch-Group.
